INTRODUCTION

The short-eared dog (Atelocynus microtis), is also known as the short-eared zorro or small-eared dog. It is the only species associated with the genus Atelocynus. short-eared dog is also known for cachorro-do-mato-de-orelha-curta in Portuguese, zorro de oreja corta in Spanish, nomensarixi in chiquitano, and uálaca in yucuna. The short-eared dog is found in the Amazon Rainforest area of South America (Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and perhaps Venezuela).
